Ohio Has A New Rushing King
(11-14-16) Harvest Prep's Junior Running Back Daniel Bangura (5'10, 170-lb) had a night to remember in a D VII Regional Semifinal game vs Daleville (11-12-16) as he rushed for 451 yards and four touchdowns in the 44-21 win. With that effort he became the new all-time single-season rushing king with a total of 3,789 yards. Harvest who is 9-3 on the season will play 11-1 Waterford for the D VII Regional Championship Saturday night, which will allow him the opportunity to add to that total.
Saturday night he can become the first runner in Ohio High School history to have over 4,000 yards rushing in a single season, he needs 211 yards to reach that goal. Bangura has rushed for 300 yards or more in his last eight games.
His performance against Daleville also included breaking the Rushing Touchdowns in a single-season with 51, overall TDs scored in a single-season with 53. He can become the all-time single-season scoring leader needing just 16 points, he currently has 318 points. The record is currently 333 held by Cully Berndt of Toledo Waite from 1921.
