---- Football North QB De Jesus shares his favorite thing about playing quarterback and the game he is looking forward to the most
(8-24-16) - Football North Prep Academy is in it's inagural season of playing (American rules) football. Clarkson Secondary School is offering a first-of-its-kind football prep program in the Canadian public school system. The school is openly recruiting top Canadian athletes to be a part of the program.
They will make history Friday when they play their first ever game against Western Buckeye League foe Ottawa-Glandorf. The Titans are one of the top teams in the WBL, going 8-4 and qualifying for the State playoffs last season.
Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Larry Jusdanis:
“Working together, we want to provide student athletes with the opportunity to specialize in year-round football training and compete against the top high school teams and coaches in North America, while they earn their diploma.”
The team is not allowed to compete in the local athletic conference, that is why the Canadians will travel south of the border to the US for their entire schedule. Their first season will feature six games with Ohio schools, two in Maryland and one in Pennsylvania.
Below is the goals (from their web site) of Football North Prep Academy -
VisionThe goal of Football North is to be the best student-athlete based football program in Canada. In the pursuit of excellence, the student-athletes will be leaders in the classroom, community, and on the football field. Continually focused on education, teamwork, innovation and competition, Football North’s financially sustainable model will allow investment into elite and safe coaching techniques, in-season and off-season player development, and competition against the top United States high school programs. The program will strive to become a top 100 ranked high school football team in North America
MissionProvide high school football players an elite school and football experience from a Canadian location, allowing them to achieve their academic and athletic goals.
ValuesExcellence – extraordinary performance in the classroom, community, and on the field. Players will be high level achievers in academics, acquire valuable skills and demonstrate good citizenship.
Competitiveness – learning to be more successful than others by performing at an elite level at all times.
Leadership – becoming young transformational leaders by being ideal role models, inspiring, motivating, and engaging others, and challenging other leaders to be innovative and creative.
Teamwork – working well together in difficult circumstances to achieve a collective goal.
There are several other Canadian schools in both football ( Canada Prep Academy ) and basketball who also use this year around recruiting format. USA Today just rated Canada Prep as the 19th toughest schedule in the US (they also only play American schools). It's also becoming a part of the US high school athletic scene. The past several years IMG Academy in Florida is an example of that and are currently ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25.
